1995 Girder Bridge
The Coraopolis-Neville Island Bridge is a 1108-foot long steel deck girder bridge connecting Coraopolis, PA to Neville Island, PA, crossing over the Ohio River. The bridge has been in continuous use since 1995. It replaced "The Recycled Bridge", the 1927 steel through truss which had been transported downriver from it's original location connected St. Clair St. (6th St, downtown) to Federal Street (North Shore), crossing Allegheny River. Unfortunately, the historic bridge was unable to cope with the traffic and was ultimately demolished. The steel deck girder bridge now in useis expected to connect these two industrial communities well into the future.
